Fetzer Center Takes First Place

Fetzer Center Takes 1st Place

Thursday, May 30, 2013 Ministry with Community held the 7th Annual Chefs Against Hunger. Fetzer Center Chef Todd Gerry won first place in the competition.

Nine of the best local chefs came together to create a three course meal using ingredients from MwC's own pantry. Each chef was assisted by a celebrity sous-chef and had just 45 minutes to prepare and present their creation.

Chefs Against Hunger is designed to highlight the challenges faced in their kitchen each day as staff work to serve delicious, healthy meals—sometimes without basic ingredients—for as many as 300 people.

This award has begun a tradition of local recognition received by the culinary staff of the Fetzer Center. In August of 2012 Executive Chef Ken Taylor captured first place in the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission Christos Chef Cook Off.

Fetzer Center Takes 1st Place

Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 local chefs showcased their culinary skills at WMU’s Fetzer Center to benefiting the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission’s Building Hope for the Future Capital Campaign for a New Women and Children’s Center. Six local chefs prepared hors d’oeuvre and beverages for guests and a panel of judges. A panel of six judges awarded our own Chef Kenneth Taylor first place for his culinary expertise. A special thank you to KGM’s Food Service for a spectacular cook off.
